Quest To Be Queen
Registration Deadline Approaches

Were you born to be a Queen?  Running for the Fort Bend County Fair Queen may be for you!  Some young lady will take her place as queen in a long line of Fair royalty and be the recipient of scholarships, prizes, and serve as an ambassador for the Fort Bend County Fair. Contestants participating in this year's Fair Queen Scholarship Contest must attend a mandatory orientation meeting on Sunday, July 17, 2016. This is the ONLY day to register for the Scholarship Contest.  "Having the honor of being the 2015 Fort Bend County Fair Queen has been an amazing experience. I love representing such an incredible Fair, while also representing such an amazing county," says 2015 Fort Bend County Fair Queen, Hannah Eicke.  Hannah and the other contestants became close and several became good friends, "I would like to thank the other Fair Queen candidates that ran with me. I gained some phenomenal friendships and I wouldn't change my experience for the world."

The Fort Bend County Fair Queen Scholarship Contest is for females between the ages of 15 and 19 who are residents of Fort Bend County. The competition runs July 17 - September 23 and is based on ticket sales, interview, style show performance and participation.  Eicke offers advice to those considering running, "I want to encourage girls to run for the 2016 Fort Bend County Fair Queen. It is a wonderful way to meet new people. For me, it really helped me step out of my comfort zone and learn more about myself. I am so grateful for this experience and I hope to see more girls join this journey."

Beginning August 1st, you will be able to purchase Fair Tickets online from your Queen Candidate of choice. The young ladies will be formally introduced, as they take to the runway in fashion-forward outfits and western inspired styles at the Fair's Style Show on Friday, August 12th.

Rodeo Ready
Mo Betta Returns
Bull riding is 8 seconds of bone jarring action, but for the Tate family, it is a way of life. Maury and Nikki Tate, owners of Mo Betta Rodeo Company, will be returning as the Stock Contractors for the Fort Bend County Fair and Rodeo for the third consecutive year. The Tate family will head to Texas with their bucking horses and bulls at the end of August. The couple became the new owners of the Cody Nite Rodeo in Wyoming, where they will produce 90 consecutive rodeo performances through August 31st.

Maury and Nikki Tate with Family

Tate continues to get the nod to bring his stock to the National Finals Rodeo. Last December, J.W. Harris and Tate's bull, Bailey Hou, battled for eight seconds on an 88-point ride to win the fourth round and a check for $17,885.
Tate and his wife are no strangers to success. The couple founded Mo Betta Western Shirt Company; that attracted country music superstar Garth Brooks as a client of the distinctive shirt company. The shirts became a signature of Garth's fashion on tour and swelled in popularity in the '90s.

The Fair's PRCA Rodeo is scheduled the second weekend of the Fair,  September 30th through October 2nd.  Other rodeo action during the Fair's run includes the Reunion Rodeo, Ranch Rodeo, Team Roping & Barrel Race, Chad Thames Calf Roping Invitational and a Bull Riding. Be sure to save the dates!

Art Action
School Art Auction Program
Calling all artists! Your artwork could be featured in the Fair's School Art Auction. Paintings, drawings or sculptures are just a few of the forms of artworks that may be entered. Fort Bend County Students in grades 8-12 who are in public or private school or who are home-schooled are eligible to participate.
Student artists can create works depicting still life, rural scenes, animals or buildings. Only one piece of artwork per student will be allowed as an entry. The school's art instructor or home-schooled supervisor will be responsible for authenticating any student's artwork completed under his/her direction.
This competition brings out the creativity in our youth and enables them to earn money for their future. Exhibitors will be competing with their original pieces of art in hopes of winning the coveted Grand Champion ribbon. The top exhibits will be displayed in Building "B" until they are auctioned off on Saturday, September 24, 2016, at 5:00 P.M.
Downtown Stomp
A Wine Adventure
A journey of fine wines and shopping finds awaits you at the 3rd Annual Downtown Stomp on Saturday, August 6, 2016, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Wine lovers and shopping mavens are invited to come out and enjoy wine tasting and after-hours shopping in the Historic Downtown Rosenberg District.  "It is our third year to host this event and every year we continue to grow. We get a chance to get out in the community and the residents get a chance to get to know us," says Fair President, Neil O. Yelderman. "The Downtown Stomp is a great way for us to get members of the community involved that may not know about our Fair or what it has to offer."

2015 Wine Selections on Display
